The Mississippi "Gift of Life" Quilts
The Mississippi "Gift of Life" quilts are a handmade labor of love dedicated to the memory of organ and tissue donors. Also, the quilt is a celebration of renewed health. Both donor families and transplant recipients, are encouraged to submit squares. |
Donor familes may use the square to remember sentimental things - a photo, hobbies, poems and talents. Some families have cut the 8" quilt square from an article of favorite clothing and added other mementos. The square is a personal loving tribute and should reflect memories of the donor. Transplant recipients may submit a square in honor of their donor or as an influential reminder of the great need for organ and tissue donation. |
| There are currently three quilt panels that provide a valuable service promoting donor awareness and the lifesaving miracle of transplantation. For information on the Mississippi "Gift of Life" Quilt contact: Jan Fortenberry, MORA Donor Family Services, 1-800-690-8878. |
