National Donate Life Month Events 2016

NDLM 2016_FacebookAd no url

National Donate Life Month (NDLM) was instituted by Donate Life America and its partnering organizations, which includes Donate Life Mississippi, in 2003. Celebrated in April every year, NDLM features an entire month of local, regional and national donation awareness activities to encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those heroes who have left a legacy that saved lives through the gift of donation.

This year, Donate Life America choose the sunflower as the national symbol of National Donate Life Month. The seeds of one sunflower has the potential to create an entirely new field of flowers. Just like the sunflower, we have the opportunity to give the gift of life when we register our decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor. One organ donor can save and the heal the lives of up to 8 people through organ donation and countless others through tissue donation. A chance at new life gives beyond the recipient, and touches their friends and family for future generations.

Donate Life Night with Biloxi Shuckers

Biloxi Shuckers TransparentFor the first time in the history of Donate Life Month in Mississippi, the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency is hosting Donate Life Night with the Biloxi Shuckers. The game will begin at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, April 21st, 2016, at MGM Park in Biloxi, but be sure to arrive a bit early. This year, the donor family of Pierce Cartwright will throw the ceremonial first pitch of the game in honor of Pierce’s legacy and gift of life to others.

The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a free Donate Life/Biloxi Shuckers baseball cap. There will also be Donate Life registration tables throughout the concourse available for anyone who would like to learn more about organ, eye and tissue donation or register to Donate Life.
