National Donate Life Month Events 2016

NDLM 2016_FacebookAd no url

National Donate Life Month (NDLM) was instituted by Donate Life America and its partnering organizations, which includes Donate Life Mississippi, in 2003. Celebrated in April every year, NDLM features an entire month of local, regional and national donation awareness activities to encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those heroes who have left a legacy that saved lives through the gift of donation.

This year, Donate Life America choose the sunflower as the national symbol of National Donate Life Month. The seeds of one sunflower has the potential to create an entirely new field of flowers. Just like the sunflower, we have the opportunity to give the gift of life when we register our decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor. One organ donor can save and the heal the lives of up to 8 people through organ donation and countless others through tissue donation. A chance at new life gives beyond the recipient, and touches their friends and family for future generations.

Impressions of Life 2016

shutterstock_248863831 [Converted]Donor families, transplant recipients, and those waiting on the National Transplant List are invited to attend Impressions of Life and paint the National Donate Life Month symbol, the sunflower, on Saturday, April 16th, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. For the first time in the event’s history, the event will be held at three different locations: Ridgeland, Hattiesburg, and Tupelo. The artwork created will be offered to the artists, but if they choose, their artwork will be displayed at various events throughout National Donate Life Month and at the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency’s Drive for Life Golf Tournament in the Fall. The artwork will be returned to families at the end of these events or, with the artists’ permission, will be auctioned off to raise monies for MORA’s Public Education Fund. Light refreshments will be served.

If you are a donor family member, a transplant recipient or transplant waiting list candidate and would like to attend an Impressions of Life event in your area, please contact Chuck Stinson at or 601.933.1000 by Friday, April 8th at noon. Space is limited. Call today!
