| Suggestions for Writing to Recipients |
- Use simple language.
- Write information you feel comfortable sharing about yourself, your loved
one and other family members. This may include occupations, hobbies,
interests, perhaps special things your loved one liked to do or information
about your family.
- You may want to write about how making the decision to donate has impacted
you, your family and your community.
- You may feel more comfortable sending a card during the holidays, or a "Thinking
of You" card if you choose not to write a long letter.
|
|
| General Information |
- You may include first names of yourself, your loved one and other family
members, the state in which you reside and photographs.
- Keep identities anonymous and confidential... do not include any last
names, street addresses, city names, phone numbers, names of hospitals
or physicians.

Mailing Your Card or Letter |
- Place your card or letter in an unsealed envelope.
- Include on a separate sheet of paper:
1. Your full name
2. The full name of your loved one
3. The date of the donation
- Place the above items in another envelope and mail to:
Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency
12 River Bend Place
Flowood, MS 39232
- This process may take several weeks so allow extra mailing time.
|
|
| Once You Have Mailed Your Card or Letter |
- Letters may be reviewed to ensure confidentiality.
- The recipient(s) may be contacted to request permission to forward the
correspondence.
- It will then be forwarded to the transplant hospital(s) which will send it
on to the transplant recipient(s).
- It may take a few weeks for your correspondence to reach the recipient(s).
- You may or may not receive a response from the recipient(s). This is also
their personal decision. Some transplant recipients have said they
feel overwhelmed with emotion and have difficulty expressing their
gratitude in writing.
